A bold statement, and probably baseless. I make it regardless, in the light of logic. Foolish, i know, but there it is.
Science fiction allows an author to create any conceivable setting, in which any metaphor can take place. i'm a big fan of metaphor, for some reason. Anyway, this allows any kind of social comment to be made, if you're into that sort of thing.
I'm not. Not particularly, at any rate, am i into such things. Just not deep enough, i'm afraid. There are, however, other reasons to read things, and i think i may've discovered the reason for literature, and (to a lesser degree) art in general.
Another bold statement, and still probably baseless. Still, all the best fiction (in my opinion) deals with the insanities of life and reality. Love, beauty, hate, irony, all these are insanity when viewed from the proper perspective. Viewed from another perspective, though, these are the paramount of sanity. That kind of ruins the impact of my earlier statement, but there it is.
I should expand this.
